One of the themes of the Matsueda work is to shape an "impossible moment." To illustrate this theme, his works consist of 3-dimensional solids born from motifs protruding from 2-dimensional planes. The author seeks to overcome the limitations of the printing industry and its products -planar objects. The artwork of each pattern depicts an individual outside of his or her daily life and vacationing. It is also one of Matsueda's themes that change will occur simply by stepping out of one's current situation.
